Currently, seven cyclists with a shared commitment to creating a sustainable future are biking from the southern border of the Yukon Territory in Canada over 2,000 miles to Yellowstone National Park in the United States to raise awareness about wildlife corridors throughout the Yellowstone to Yukon region (Y2Y). These wildlife corridors will link already protected regions preserving historic plant and animal migration routes essential to the survival of this preciously diverse ecosystem.
During our 8-week "Freedom to Roam Ride," we are communicating with a larger audience through blog entries, pictures, video and media updates. We are also, through our non profit sponsor Freedom to Roam and their pilot program Bearing Witness, partnering with Google Earth to feature our ride on their website. The bearing witness program is slated to begin in 2009.
